Girl Tribe Recommends: Music – Miley Cyrus cover Blondie’s ‘Heart Of Glass’

By Ana Wilmer

At the iHeartRadio 2020 Virtual Festival, Miley Cyrus performed an incredible cover of Blondie’s ‘Heart of Glass’.

During her appearance Miley sang three originals, her Mark Ronson country hit ‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’, ‘Who Owns My Heart’, and the Stevie Nicks-indebted single ‘Midnight Sky’.

The pop sensation opened her performance with a cover of the Parallel Lines classic and absolutely killed it! Though many people out there have varying opinions on Miley, they cannot deny that Cyrus genuinely delivers every song she chooses to cover with tremendous heart and passion. The star has definitely gone through many phases of music throughout her career, however, this mullet-donning, disco era most definitely suits her best!

Be sure to listen to Miley Cyrus covering Blondie’s ‘Heart of Glass’ Live at IHeartRadio Music Festival 2020:

Miley made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, earlier this month, where she performed a beautiful cover of Hall & Oates 1982 track ‘Maneater’.

Miley Cyrus also sat down with French radio station NRJ, where she talked about wanting her new record to reflect the music she loves, and to draw from eclectic influences who she described to be “Britney Spears to Metallica.”

The singer goes on to say that she believes the “first single comes with a lot of pressure because it does kind of show everyone where you’re going.” Cyrus says that in her sets, she covers “ Britney Spears to Metallica” so that her record  “will be reflective of” who she is.

One of the unusual surprises that 2020 has brought for Miley is that she now has “ the chops for rock”. Throughout Quarantine, Cyrus has covered everyone from Pink Floyd, to The Beatles to Temple of the Dog.  Such covers have gained much recognition from even Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich herself!

Ulrich used his Instagram to publicize his admiration for Miley’s performance; he wrote that he was  “Still stunned by” her “next level version of ‘Say Hello 2 Heaven’ for Chris!”
