We made it through 2018! I’m sure we can all agree that we are ready for some rest and relaxation after this past year. Fortunately there are a lot of great new movies and shows with female-centric stories for you to enjoy over the holiday season. In this issue we profile Emily Blunt who bravely and successfully takes on the iconic role of Mary Poppins in the new movie Mary Poppins Returns. We also profile Felicity Jones who plays powerhouse Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the upcoming movie On The Basis Of Sex. We also give you all the details about Lady Gaga’s upcoming residency for TWO different shows in Las Vegas.

Our Recommendations section lists many more great ideas for entertainment from The Cher Show on Broadway, to new TV shows such as Julia Roberts’ show Homecoming on Amazon prime, more movies, and books to keep you busy on Winter break.

The midterms are over and in our politics section we take a look at the new women coming to Washington, D.C. and what we can look forward to politically going forward. There are more women in politics than ever and it is sure to have an impact on our society.

In our business section we take a look at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion show, and the challenges that the company is facing in the #MeToo era. We highlight Sara Blakely, billionaire founder of the company Spanx, and take a look at the women founders of fitness companies including Soul Cycle and SLT.

In Sports we report on Simone Biles amazing feat of setting the record for most career World Titles by male or female gymnast.  We also check in with the women of winter sports to see what they’ve been up to since last year’s Winter Olympics.

In Culture we report back from Art Basel and the state of women artists in the art industry. We also highlight all the best New Year’s Eve parties around the world.

December is a time for gift giving and giving back and our Charity section suggests great ideas for supporting women and “shopping for a cause” and lists great charity opportunities such as Toys for Tots for the holiday season.

Finally, our Five Questions features Shelley Zalis, CEO of The Female Quotient and one of the most well-known thought leaders for advancing equality in the workplace.

The end of the year is a good time for reflection and we are happy to see that women have come a long way in 2018. We are inspired by all of the trailblazers that we feature in Girl Tribe Magazine and the growing success and support that women are offering each other throughout the worlds of business, entertainment, politics and sports. As always, thank you for your support and happy and healthy holidays from all of us at Girl Tribe.
