The pandemic has allowed for time and space for musicians to be creative and work on new material. Female musicians such as Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion. 

Billie Eilish released her new song “My Future” which promotes hope towards the future. During these tough times, Eilish sings about her excitement towards the future and learning more about herself which is a message we can all use. 

Taylor Swift released a new album, Folklore. Folklore has a more “indie” feel than her previous albums and is a shift for Swift. The songs in the album tell stories and are a great escape from reality, making the album very popular. 

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion released their controversial song that is being discussed constantly, “WAP”. “WAP” is an abbreviation for something that I don’t want to write out, but if you are curious feel free to look it up. In such an important political time in our lives where women’s rights are often a topic of discussion, this song finds its way into the debate because of whether it is empowering or degrading to women. “WAP” has gone viral on tik tok and made it to the top of the charts.

Beyoncé released her “Black is King” video on Disney Plus for her song “Brown Skinned Girl”. This song is influential in the time of the Black Lives Matter movement as it supports the beauty of all races and skin colors. This video is beautiful and entertaining as it stars many famous and talented women such as Naomi Campbell, Kelly Rowland, Lupita Nyong’o and daughter Blue Ivy.
