The most wonderful time of the year is wrapping up but the holiday spirit does not have to! Instead of only streaming movies on Netflix or watching every Hallmark film to exist, we recommend cracking open a festive and cheerful book. Grab your most festive attire, sit next to a fireplace, and dive into some of the most warmhearted seasonal books we can find. 

From  the old-time classics like The Nutcracker to newer editions, such as the Grinch Who Stole Christmas, this list has every style of holiday spirit one could ask for. 

Comfort and Joy by Kristin Hannah

This romance novel is perfect for when you’re reminiscing about the holiday times and need a thrilling plot. This novel puts an emphasis on second chances and also taking adventures. The novel takes a turn when a plane crashes and Joy, the protagonist, must find help and finds her soulmate. 

How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss

The modern-day classic that everyone knows, The Grinch will give you hope in others especially during these untrusting times. The Grinch helps us remember that we can all learn to love a little more and  teach others to love.

The Royal Holiday by Jasmine Guillory

Working for the queen, protagonist, Vivian, finds her soulmate, a staff member of the queen, Malcolm. This romance novel highlights the joyfulness of the holiday season and being with loved ones.  

Seven Days of Us by Francesca Hornak

Similar to the family chaos almost everyone endures during this time of year, the Birches’ weeklong reunion is highlighted in this novel and all of its ups and downs. Similar to what is happening currently with COVID-19, Olivia, the protagonist, spreads a foreign epidemic to her family, making them all stuck together, making them find out all of the secrets the family members have hidden for years. 

The Nutcracker by E.T.A. Hoffman

The timeless piece never fails to amaze. Different than what the world renowned dance shows depicts, the Nutcracker will give you the chills from the nightmarish plot. The storyline focuses on one girl and all of the fantasies which come to life, including talking mice and toy soldiers coming to life. This novel will give you a different perspective of what the Nutcracker has been displayed as.
