American Dirt

Written by Jeanine Cummins, this is the book to read based on advance reviews calling it “a Grapes of Wrath for our times” and “a new American classic.” About a family of three in Acapulco where the woman who owns a bookstore and her husband is a journalist. When the husband writes a scathing article about the leader of the newest drug cartel who is a customer of the wife’s store, the couple and their young son have to flee for their lives, suddenly becoming migrants on their way to America.
