28 Row: A New Social Platform for Female Influencers

By: Julia Wallach

Every day on social media we see influencers and this platform is creating those opportunities for women in college around the globe. 28 Row, an online social media platform, is a space where students connect with other women over their shared interest in social media and influencing. Cindy Krupp and Janie Karas, the founders of 28 Row, created it strictly for the community of college women. They don’t require many of the mandatory rules that larger platforms use, which makes them different and attracts a diverse group of women. As of September, they have about 1500 members, most of which are “social butterflies” or influencers on their network, shown with a star next to their user. As a group of women with different backgrounds, their shared interest allows them to bond over different topics as well. By creating 28 Row, Krupp and Karas created influencing possibilities for many less-known women as well as many students in the future.

Sara Ramirez’s View on Body Acceptance

By Kate Burdick

In the new spin-off of Sex in the City, And Just Like That…, a character is introduced as non-binary, sparking questions about body acceptance. Actor Sara Ramirez plays Che, a queer and non-binary podcast host, in the television show. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community themselves, Ramirez has struggled with body image their whole life. However, the cast and crew of And Just Like That… ensured they were comfortable on-set with flexibility surrounding Che’s makeup, wardrobe, and hair presented on screen. Co-stars, such as lead Sarah Jessica Parker, made efforts to connect with Ramirez by asking questions about pronouns, allowing positive experiences for the actor. Characters like Che allow for a more accepting and inclusive environment for everyone around the world.
