On July 7th, 2022 The Women’s Sports Network, the first network ever to be female athlete focused, launched and it “is exactly what athletes, fans and sponsors have been asking for.” Over the past year, women’s sports have been becoming more popular with ‘Gen Z’ers’ and Millennials, but we are still in the fight to advocate for equality in women’s sports as, “79% of U.S. sports fans still claim to not actively follow women’s sports,” according to the National Research Group and Ampere Analysis.

This network is thought to be revolutionary for the future and it has even partnered with The Women’s National Basketball Association, Women’s Football Alliance, Ladies Professional Golf Association, U.S. Ski and Snowboard, Sports Innovation Lab and World Surf League, and even more. The media hasn’t put enough effort into broadcasting women’s sports. Because there are not as many female reporters, broadcasters, writers, and producers, women’s sports is less recognized and has yet to build as strong a platform as men’s sports. But, with the help of the upcoming The Women’s Sports Network, popularity and publicity of women’s sports is on the rise and will hopefully continue to shape the future of female athletes.
