Happy International Women’s Day! International Women’s Day, first celebrated in 1911, is a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of all women around the world. It’s also a day to reflect on where and how gender inequality permeates society. On International Women’s Day we together commit to standing up for the human rights of women everywhere.

The 2022 International Women’s Day theme is “#BreakTheBias” and represented by the following poem written by the IWD campaign:

Imagine a gender equal world.

A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Together we can forge women's equality.

Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.

In this Bonus issue of Girl Tribe, editors Haley Brettschneider, Julia French, and Reese Wolfe share their authentic feminist opinions and experiences. Brettschneider studied and wrote a recommendation promoting paid leave for sexual assault victims in the workplace, while French and Wolfe wrote letters to younger family members as a medium to convey the realities and dangers of growing up as women.
